Day 1: KOTA KINABALU / KINABALU NATIONAL PARK
Morning pick up from Kota Kinabalu and transfer to the Kinabalu National Park (2 hours drive). On the way, stop at the market at Kundasang for search of local food and fruit. Check in your accommodation in the park and spend your time relaxing and admiring the scenic beauty of the surrounding valley. Then proceed to visit the Poring Hot Spring. At Poring, you can take a canopy walk in the heights of the jungle and try to have a bath in the hot sulphur springs. Locals believes that it has skin problem curing capabilities. (Lunch / Dinner)
Day 2: KINABALU NATIONAL PARK / LABAN RATA
After breakfast, 0800hrs meet your mt guide and take a shuttle to the Timpohon Gate for the start of your climb. It takes about 5 hours to ascend the Laban Rata (3,272m)where you stay overnight. The views along the trail are spectacular and an amazing array of flora can be encountered along the way, including various species of insect-eating pitcher plants, superb orchids, and perhaps even the world's largest flower, the "Rafflesia". However, it will require luck to see the latter, for they flower occasionally and only for a short period of time. Have the rest of the day free to relax, rest up and get ready for the big climb tomorrow early morning. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 3: SUMMIT / KOTA KINABALU
The final ascent to the summit begins very early and takes about 2-3 hours as our aim is to be on the top for sunrise. It will be dark when you begin your walk (head torches with fresh batteries are strongly recommended), and coupled with the high altitude, it will be very cold and tiring (warm clothing essential). However, if you succeed in climbing the summit at Low's peak (4,101m), a great sense of achievements will fill you. (As this sector of the trip is very challenging, the summit climb is optional this morning and those who choose not to climb to the top can remain behind at Laban Rata.) After savoring what is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, return to Laban Rata (in much faster time!) with the opportunity for a well-earned breakfast before continuing on down to park headquarters. After lunch, return to Kota Kinabalu and check in your accommodation tonight. Tonight free at leisure. (Supper/Breakfast/ Lunch)
Day 4: SEPILOK REHABILITATION CENTRE / SUKAU
After breakfast, transfer to airport for morning flight to Sandakan and proceed to Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre to experience a close encounter with the "Wild Men Of Borneo". In here, orphaned and pet-Orang Utans are taught of life in the wild and you can witness the daily feeding. The 10 minutes walk to the feeding platform is on wooden bridges that pass under the massive trees of the Borneo rainforest. After watching the feeding and a video presentation of explaining more the work and philosophy of the Sepilok Rehabilitation Centre, you are taken heading to Bilit, on the Kinabatangan River to spend couple of days. After check in your lodge, go for enjoy a late afternoon cruise in search of wildlife, including Proboscis Monkeys in their natural habitat, wild orang utans and strange look hornbills are also often sighted. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 5: OX BOW LAKE / GOMANTONG CAVE
Taken an early morning river cruise to Ox Bow Lake to observe wildlife and experience the particular ambiance on the longest river in Sabah. If you are lucky, you may be able to see the wild elephants. You can also go for some light jungle walks along the lake in search for more wildlife. Back to the lodge for breakfast and free at own leisure. Afternoon proceed to visit the Gomantong Cave which takes about 30 minutes drive. At the cave, there is a 15 minutes walk on the plank way to explore the awe-inspiring cavern where millions of bats and swiftlets roost. With some lucky you will be able to witness the acrobatic defeat of the collectors. In the evening, enjoy another cruise upstream to the Kinabatangan and Menanggul rivers for more wildlife watching. (Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 6: SUKAU / SELINGAN ISLAND
Early morning at 6am continue your journey to Sandakan town for a stop to shop last minutes requirements before by boat getting to Selingan Island. The island also as known as "Turtle Island". Upon arrival, register at Park Headquarters and check in into the chalet. After lunch, free at own leisure. You can enjoy your swim, snorkel or simply relax and listen to the birds. There is an interesting video show at 7pm, followed by dinner. After that wait for rangers' call to observe the turtles laying eggs. The rangers, of whose important work you learn more at the island transfer the eggs to the hatchery. (Breakfast/ Lunch / Dinner)
Day 7: SELINGAN ISLAND / SANDAKAN / KOTA KINABALU
After breakfast, return to the Sandakan town and visit the Sandakan Memorial Park, which pays homage to the dramatic events of the Second World War. The park has been erected on the site of the former prisoner camp at mile 8. Then, transfer to Sandakan Airport for flight back to Kota Kinabalu or flight back to your next destination. (Breakfast)
